Oil Country Tubular Goods

OCTG stands for Oil Country Tubular Goods, which refers to a range of steel tubes and pipes that are used in the exploration and production of oil and gas. OCTG products include casing, tubing, drill pipe, and line pipe, among others. These products are used in various stages of oil and gas drilling, such as drilling, completion, and production.

Drill Pipe

Drill pipe, is hollow, thin-walled, steel or aluminium alloy piping that is used on drilling rigs. It is hollow to allow drilling fluid to be pumped down the hole through the bit and back up the annulus. It comes in a variety of sizes, strengths, and wall thicknesses, but is typically 27 to 32 feet in length (Range 2).

Casing

OCTG casing is large diameter pipe which needs to be cemented into the borehole. The diameters of OCTG casing pipe range from 4.5″ to 20″. The pipe is well-cemented and stands strong, it acts as the structural component of the well and offers hole integrity

Tubing

Tubing transports the oil and gas from deep in the well to the surface – the third phase of the wellbore. Oil and gas occasionally rise to the surface on their own; usually, pumps are needed to bring the fluids to the surface. Tubing naturally has a smaller diameter than casing, except for the 4 1/2-inch diameter.
